Area Attractions near Oban, Scotland
This beautiful part of Scotland is naturally domainated
by Scotland's most popular west-coast holiday town, Oban.
Oban has always been known as the traveller’s rest.
As a small town with a resident population of 8,500 this unofficial
capital of the West Highlands often swells with large numbers
of visitors. Oban is renowned for its glorious gardens, its
fabulous views, the ocean promenade, islands all around, ancient
monuments and castles, and outdoor activities such as diving,
hiking, fishing, bird-watching – even whale spotting.
Queen Victoria even gave the town of Oban the royal seal of
approval when she described it as "one of the finest
spots we have seen".
Throughout the site we are continually making reference to

some close by, some a little further afield but within very
easy traveling and comfortable day trip distance, are
- Ferry trips to sensational Mull and Iona, taking in some
seal and whale watching
- A visit to the glorious little town of Inveraray, including
the Jail, the stunning castle, and Loch Fyne Oysters
- A trip to the Kyles of Bute and Tighnabruaich
- Spend a day on the Kintyre peninsuala and take in the
great Springbank Distillery at Campbeltown
- Visit the sensational Cruachan Power Station visitor centre
near Dalmally
